TISS Offering Two-Year Master Degree Programmes

The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) offering 17 master's degree programme - 2011-2013. This institute was started in 1936, formerly known as the Sir Dorabji Tata Graduate School of Social Work. In 1964, University Grants Commission (UGC) funded the TISS and since then known it deemed the status of university.It currently hosts 6 Schools, 4 Independent Centres, and 3 Resource Centres.

The master degrees offered by TISS are in the following areas -

6. Health Administration
7. Hospital Administration
8. Public Health in Health Policy, Economics and Finance
9. Public Health in Social Epidemiology
10. Counselling
11. Development Studies
12. Education (Elementary)
13. Women’s Studies
14. Habitat Policy and Practice
15. Disaster Management
16. Media and Cultural Studies
17. Social Work in Rural Development

Candidates can apply and appear for the TISS National Entrance Test for a maximum of three programmes.The eligibility criteria depends upon the programme chosen. For instance : Candidates applying for the Master of Public Health in Health Policy, Economics and Finance; and Master of Public Health in Social Epidemiology Programmes should have (i) A Master’s Degree in any discipline, or (ii) A Bachelor’s Degree in medicine/para-medical courses.Interested candidates ,please refer the university website www.tiss.edu, for further details on the eligibility for each of programme offered.

The admission process for the above courses will be done on the basis of Written Test
and Group Discussion & Personal Interview. The application forms are available on the official site www.tiss.edu and make the payment at SBI. A DD of Rs.800/per programme- drawn in favour of “ Tata Institute of Social Sciences” payable at SBI, Deonar, Mumbai (Branch Code 03109). Candidates applying for online , depending upon the number of programmes , should pay processing fee of Rs800 per programme and submit the challan to any branch of the State Bank of India. The challan can be downloaded from the TISS website.

Forms are available for sale from sep9th to oct 11th.The last date for submission is oct22nd.
